Unlike many songs we sing in worship, By Our Love is not addressed to God, but is a song we sing to our brothers and sisters in the Church, encouraging and challenging each other to live out our call to be vessels of God’s love to the world. Based on the Johannine theme of loving others as Christ loved us, Nockels’ song is not only a reminder but also an exhortation to live in such a way that our neighbors will “know us by our love.”
